Films
I am told that the first film I ever saw was The Fall of the Roman Empire
apparently I was ejected from the premises for crying
and generally acting like a baby. All I can remember of
it was two guys walking down a corridor, dressed as
Romans. I can vividly remember being bored to tears by
this. They were talking but I didn't know any words. You
can probably guess the rest. I think I must have been
about two years old. The first film I actually SAW (in
capitals) was Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space
Odyssey. I have never been the same since. Since
then, I had largely given up my interest in making
movies and concentrated instead on writing .... but with
the invention of digital video and low cost editing rigs
like iMovie... who could resist? Certainly not me. After
all, if a picture is worth a thousand words, sixty
seconds of video is worth... an amazing 1,440,000 of the
tricky little buggers.
Then again, it is a rare film that is worth quite that
much.
